Our mission, our purpose
At Brain Growth Services, our mission is to empower students from kindergarten through high school to achieve independence in reading, writing, and math. We accomplish this by targeting and developing the sensory-cognitive functions that underlie these essential skills. With a foundation built on Dual Coding Theory, our research-validated instruction paves the way for students to reach their full potential.
Our why, our how
Developed by Dr. Mark Sadoski and Dr. Allen Paivio, Dual Coding Theory presents a simple and predictable brain model. It states the brain primarily stores information in two codes: static imagery and dynamic imagery.
Static imagery is largely responsible for letter and word recognition, sound and letter sequencing, storage of math facts and indentification of symbols.
Dynamic imagery is largely responsible for our mental movies which give meaning to words, provide context for understanding language, humor and relationships between action and outcome.
A weakness in a processes related to these encoding mechanisms will show up in academic difficulty. However, like a muscle, these sensory-cognitive brain functions can be targeted and developed.
Our vision, our future
Our goal is impact learners across the Las Vegas valley by providing effective instruction and training to families. By partnering with students and guardians, our goal is to make Las Vegas an educational beacon, for the native student to the newly arrived.
